deadpool2e Posted December 20, 2005 Report Posted December 20, 2005 My TDI has started to jump slightly in 3rd and 2nd gear, it seems as thought I am the only one who can feel it as no passengers have said anything? and I can hear a slight noise when it does it? Also the other day I was in 4th and it all of a sudden it went flat (would not accelerate over 2 1/2 thou revs). but was ok when i stopped and then restarted. any idea what this could be and how to repair?? did it again today when i was a passenger and the noise is coming from the drivers side somewhere? Topbloke Posted December 21, 2005 Report Posted December 21, 2005 don't know about the noise but the loss of power could be clasic signs of the dreeded Maf Quote
tim-spam Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 If the power loss is caused by the MAF, it will not reset itself when the engine is stopped and re-started. This topic has been covered before fairly recently - try a search, and you should find plenty of help. Quote

seatkid Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 Could be a vacuum pipe, MAF sensor (or wiring to), or the throttle pot (or wiring to). The "Slight noise" might indicate a vacuum pipe problem. They split, collapse or become loose/drop off at connections. (Vaccum pipes control the turbo boost) Quote

(Vaccum pipes control the turbo boost) thanks seat kid. is this easy to DIY or is it a trip to the dealer? My MAF is less than a year old as i had it replaced at last service, will it still be under warenty? Quote
